Code of Conduct
On March 1, 2019, Council adopted a new Council and Committee Code of Conduct.
The Council and Committee Code of Conduct establishes standards of conduct for Members of Council, Local Boards and Committees in the individual conduct of their official duties. These standards will protect and maintain the Township of North Frontenac’s reputation and integrity.
Maintaining a high quality of public administration and governance can be achieved in part by encouraging high standards of conduct on the part of Township Officials. The Public is entitled to expect the highest standards of conduct from Members that are elected or appointed to serve their local government.
Role of the Integrity Commissioner |
An Integrity Commissioner is independent and impartial, and reports directly to Council. In addition to specific powers and duties Council may choose to assign, the core functions of an Integrity Commissioner are set out in Section 223.3 of the Municipal Act. |
Responsibilities of the Integrity Commissioner |
Section 223.3 (1) of the Municipal Act states “Without limiting sections 9, 10 and 11, those sections authorize the municipality to appoint an Integrity Commissioner who reports to council and who is responsible for performing in an independent manner the functions assigned by the municipality with respect to any or all of the following:

Filing a Complaint |
Any individual who identifies or witnesses behavior or activity by a sitting Member of Council or Local Board that they believe is in contravention of the Code of Conduct or the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act may file a complaint using the following forms: Code of Conduct – Formal Complaint Form Municipal Conflict of Interest – Formal Complaint Form For further information regarding the Code of Conduct, see Township By-law #19-19 Code of Conduct of Members of Council and Committees.
