Mural Project

Early 2017, the Economic Development Task Force invited local artists to participate in a program designed to showcase local artists, beautify the area and provide a unique attraction for residents and visitors alike. Since 2017, other murals have been commissioned and placed at various locations around the Township. We invite you to click on the below to see pictures of our murals, along with details about their locations and the artists involved.

"I did a painting similar to this one on canvas a few years ago.  When I was finished I thought to myself that it would look awesome on one of the Townships murals.   When the opportunity came up, I decided that I was up for the challenge.  This Mural could be any lake in North Frontenac, full moon, late August after a storm,  with dragonflies looking for an evening snack."

"This is a painting of all the creatures that play in North Frontenac hidden from our view….waiting to use their home when we are gone.   In total there are over 40 separate critters in the mural….some are hidden…but all are in view, you just have to take the time to find them all.  I used artist acrylic paint for the painting, and topped with three coats of Spar Urethane (used on boat exterior for weather protection) which made the image come alive."

"As our mural was going into a playground, we wanted to add as many elements as possible for children to find such as boats, (kayak, windsurfer, canoe, pontoon, fishing boat),  activities (camping, swimming, fishing), animals (Owl, Raccoon), birds (Loons, Hawks), people, plants, etc. The idea was to make it exciting for children and parents to enjoy together."

“I wanted to do something similar to the piece I did last year, so I continued with the same galactic concept to form a series of paintings. Instead of copying the design completely, I added a silhouetted foreground that closely resembles the scenery of the township. Wanting to, again, bring the idea of connectedness, and show that we are all just a continuation of another.”

For years Waite' s beach served the the community and I wanted to show the beach in action with  typical  beach activities from the 60's to 90's. I added a canoe with a male in it dressed in an older plaid style and hat as well as a picture of one of the local people sitting on a rock at the water's edge.  I combined all this to define Waite's Beach.”

Dedicated to: Chris

“My dearest friend Chris inspired me to paint this mural and I dedicated it to her (the dedication is on the back of the mural). I told Chris I was dedicating this mural to her before she past away on October 5 2022 from a 5 year long battle with cancer-she never once complained, She was so touched!

The moose stands for Friendship, compassion, confidence, elegance, endurance, positivity, pride and strength. All these qualities Chris radiated.

I told her I wanted her memory to be placed in this beautiful part of the world, A place she and her husband loved to come and stay with us. A part of her will always be here." (Jan 3 1960-Oct 5 2022)
