Early 2017, the Economic Development Task Force invited local artists to participate in a program designed to showcase local artists, beautify the area and provide a unique attraction for residents and visitors alike. Since 2017, other murals have been commissioned and placed at various locations around the Township. We invite you to click on the below to see pictures of our murals, along with details about their locations and the artists involved.

"I did a painting similar to this one on canvas a few years ago. When I was finished I thought to myself that it would look awesome on one of the Townships murals. When the opportunity came up, I decided that I was up for the challenge. This Mural could be any lake in North Frontenac, full moon, late August after a storm, with dragonflies looking for an evening snack."

Sonja Alcock's All Creatures Great and Small (2021) |

"This is a painting of all the creatures that play in North Frontenac hidden from our view….waiting to use their home when we are gone. In total there are over 40 separate critters in the mural….some are hidden…but all are in view, you just have to take the time to find them all. I used artist acrylic paint for the painting, and topped with three coats of Spar Urethane (used on boat exterior for weather protection) which made the image come alive."

Leane & Brian Bailey's Fun At The Lake (2021) |

"As our mural was going into a playground, we wanted to add as many elements as possible for children to find such as boats, (kayak, windsurfer, canoe, pontoon, fishing boat), activities (camping, swimming, fishing), animals (Owl, Raccoon), birds (Loons, Hawks), people, plants, etc. The idea was to make it exciting for children and parents to enjoy together."

Instead of copying the design completely, I added a silhouetted foreground that closely resembles the scenery of the township. Wanting to, again, bring the idea of connectedness, and show that we are all just a continuation of another.”
