Bulky Rigid Plastics

Bulky rigid plastics are accepted at the 506, Plevna and Mississippi Waste Sites in accordance with the Fees & Charges By-law.
Acceptable items
|
- Plastic buckets and pails, all sizes but remove any metal handles
- Plastic crates and trays (Milk/Soda/Bread) and laundry baskets (High-density Polyethylene & Polypropylene)
- Plastic lawn furniture, pet Carriers (High-density Polyethylene & Polypropylene)
- Plastic pots (Polypropylene & Polyethylene)
- Large plastic toys, playhouses, totes and tool cases (High-density Polyethylene & Polypropylene) with metal axles removed
- Plastic garbage cans and recycling bins (High-density Polyethylene & Polypropylene) with metal Axles Removed
- Plastic hazardous material Drums but no oil drums

- Fiber: Juice and Milk Cartons, Newspaper, Paper, Wood, Trash
- Metals, Ceramics, Glass, Stones, Rocks, Gravel, Concrete
- Hazardous Material, Medical Waste
- Plastic Containers With Excessive Food Residue, Liquid & Other Products

Composting |
North Frontenac does not have a composting program located at our Waste Sites or Transfer Station, however do encourage home based composting. Composting reduces waste and also converts it into a product that is useful for gardening, landscaping or house plants.

- Pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides and their respective containers (Must show a skull & crossbones hazardous warning)
- All N-P-K Fertilizers and containers in which they are contained
- Propane tanks and cylinders
- Automobile Engine Antifreeze and containers in which it is contained
- All batteries - excluding lead acid batteries from vehicles
- Aerosol containers, such as hairspray and spray paint containers
- Portable Fire Extinguishers

- Switches that contain mercury (thermostats, thermometers, barometers, or other measuring devices containing mercury)

Re-Use Centre
|
The Re-Use Centre located at the 506 Waste Disposal Site will open May 15th to October 1st annually
Hours of Operation:
Wednesdays 9 A.M, to 1 P.M.
Saturdays 12 P.M Noon to 5 P.M.
Drop offs: North Frontenac Residents Only.
Reuse: Anyone.

Bulky Item Posting Board (Bulky items, furniture and appliances)
|
Bulky items, heavy furniture, and appliances will not be accepted at the Centre; however, residents may still advertise these items within the Centre. A bulletin board have been made available for residents to post a picture, their personal contact information, information regarding items for repurposing and a date. The role of the Township is to facilitate contact between the donor and recipient.
- All items posted are at the discretion of the owner and will not be warranted or guaranteed by North Frontenac Township in any way and are taken "as is".
- Personal advertisements will be posted for a maximum of thirty (30) days.
- Bulky items for repurposing will not be delivered to, unloaded or stored at the Centre ore Waste Disposal Site.

Scrap Metal/ White Goods
|
Scrap metal and white goods are accepted at the 506, Plevna and Mississippi Waste Sites.
Scrap Metal
|
BBQ, bicycles, file cabinets, doors, fencing/wire, dismantled swing sets, iron furniture & railings; metal sheds, aluminum lawn chairs, shower stalls, etc.
Large items such as swing sets, metal sheds, shower stalls, etc., should be broken down before drop off.

White Goods
|
Refrigerators; freezers; stoves, clothes washers and dryers, hot water tanks, dishwashers, wall ovens, microwave ovens, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, etc.
Ensure freezer and refrigerator doors are removed; Freon removed and appliance tagged; otherwise a fee of $30 per unit is payable for appliance containing Freon.

Clean tires are accepted all year round from North Frontenac residents free of charge and are accepted at three waste sites within the Municipality. View Tires - RPRA for more information.
