The Township of North Frontenac is home to over 1,842 permanent and 7,000 seasonal residents. The low density population makes for the preservation of 1,164.73 square km of unique landscape located entirely on the Canadian Shield.
North Frontenac was amalgamated in 1998 from the former Townships of; Township of Barrie, Township of Clarendon and Miller, Township of Palmerston, and, Township of North and South Canonto. Through the partnership with the Township of Central Frontenac, Frontenac Islands and the Township of South Frontenac form the County of Frontenac.
