Planning Processes

Minor Variances
A minor variance is  permission to allow a small variation from the requirements of the zoning by-law. 
  1. Review the Minor Variance Process estimated time periods below
    1. Download a printable Minor Variance Guide to refer to.
    2. Complete a Minor Variance Application.

Planning Fees 
  •  Township Fees and Pre-Development Deposit - as dictated by the Planning Fees By-law #48-13
  • KFL&A Public Health Fees - are Payable to KFL&A Public Health
  • Mississippi Valley Conservation (MVC) Fees - If on water or wetlands, payable to MVC
  • Quinte Conservation (QC) Fees - If on water or wetlands, payable to Quinte Conservation

Road Closings 
  1.  Review the Policy for the Closing and Sale of Municipal Road Allowances by-law.
  2. Complete a Shore Road Closing Application or Concession/Lot/Reserve/Forced Road Closing Application

Severance Process 
A land severance is the authorized reconfiguration or separation of a piece of land to form two or more new properties.

Site Plan Control 
Some developments are subject to Site Plan Control as set out in the Site Plan Control By-law. 
  1. Download By-Law No.08-17 Site Plan Control By-Law.
  2. Complete an Amend Site Plan Control Application.

 Zoning By-Law & Official Plan Amendment

A Zoning By-law Amendment is a process to request permission to allow a use or a variation to the requirements of the Zoning By-law.  An Official Plan Amendment is a process to request permission to allow a land use that does not meet the Official Plan policies.
