Building Permits

The Building Department primarily manages the processing of Building Permits and arranging inspections to supplement proper building and development. If you are wondering what you require a Building Permit for, please check out our Building Permit Requirements or contact our Chief Building Official at cbo@northfrontenac.ca or 613-479-2231 Ext. 224.

The North Frontenac Building By-law outlines the rules and regulations for any building and development in the Township of North Frontenac. View our Building By-law and Fees and Charges By-law for more information on the Township's Civic Web Portal where all Township By-laws are e-published.

Application for Recreational Vehicle Placement

A Recreation Vehicle must have a Recreational Vehicle Placement Permit which can be obtained by completing a Recreation Vehicle Placement Application to be returned to the Township Office with the applicable fee as per the Fees and Charge By-Law.

Accessory Buildings

Applications for accessory buildings can be a complicated procedure for those that have never applied before. As the complexity of accessory structures can vary greatly, some of the items listed below may or may not be required. Any changes to the structure during construction may require a revision or re-submission of any required documents or plans. Please note that any garage designed on a floating slab over 55m2 (538ft2) or 2 storeys in height will require an engineer's design for the slab.

The Township's Zoning By-law is one of the laws that your proposed building will be reviewed against. In many circumstances (particularly with waterfront lots) a pre consultation with the Township's Planning and Building Departments can answer any questions you may have and avoid costly mistakes prior to construction.

The items in the list below may be required for a complete permit application. Upon review of the application, the Building Department may require further documentation or clarification.
